Mayfield Furniture
Who we are & What makes us different
Independent Family Run

Our story begins in the 1960s with the opening of our first store — formerly home to Mayfield Leather Tanners, fondly known as The Leather Works. We kept the name and launched Mayfield Antiques, originally opening only on Sundays! On the other days, we delivered orders and sourced new stock through local auctions.
As tastes evolved, we introduced reproduction furniture, including mahogany, yew, and elm pieces. This led to a name change: Mayfield Reproduction Furniture. We sourced directly from skilled UK cabinet makers and had each piece polished to a high standard.
Fast forward to the 1990s — styles shifted once again. Pine became popular, followed by a strong demand for oak. Around this time, we moved to a larger premises — the one we occupy today. We continued to display reproduction furniture for many years, but as many traditional craftsmen retired and factories closed, it became increasingly difficult to find the quality we were known for.
By 2004, with oak furniture leading the market and little reproduction stock remaining, we dropped the word "Reproduction" from our name. This marked a new chapter — a more modern, versatile approach that still honoured our commitment to quality.
“If we wouldn’t have it ourselves, we don’t expect our customers to.”
Now into its third generation, Mayfield Furniture remains a proudly independent, family-run business. With no shareholders to please, our focus stays where it matters — offering our customers excellent products, honest advice, and the kind of personal service that only a family business can provide.
Bricks & Mortar Store

Since day one, we’ve had a physical store — a place where customers can visit, see, and touch the furniture they’re interested in. There’s simply no better way to shop than visiting in person and experiencing the collection for yourself. Buying solely online or from a catalogue can’t compare to the confidence you get from seeing the quality up close.
Our luxury showroom in Somercotes, Derbyshire showcases our collections beautifully, with each area styled into realistic room settings to help you visualise the furniture in your own home. We also offer a virtual showroom tour, so you can browse from the comfort of your sofa. While our displays are constantly evolving, the tour gives a great insight into who we are and what to expect when you visit.
We’re a traditional company at heart — showroom first, internet second. And that’s how it’s always going to be.

Premier Home Delivery

Home delivery is an essential part of the buying process — and something that’s often taken for granted. We’ve been delivering furniture ourselves for over 50 years. It’s bulky, heavy, and sometimes requires assembly — and we’ve built the expertise to handle it all with care.
We pride ourselves on the extra steps we take to ensure your furniture arrives exactly as expected. Every item is unpacked and quality-checked before we even arrange your delivery date. We inspect for transit damage, missing parts, and finish flaws — so there are no surprises (or disappointments) on the day of delivery.
Unlike many retailers who stop at the doorstep, we deliver to your room of choice — whether that’s the ground floor or the third floor and beyond. Our team completes any required assembly on-site, and because everything has already been checked and prepared, there’s no packaging left for you to deal with. We recycle as much of the packaging as possible through local facilities.

Remove, Donate, Recycle

When your new furniture arrives, the old furniture it’s replacing often needs to go somewhere. For a small charge, we’re happy to collect your unwanted items on a like-for-like basis. Where possible, we donate reusable furniture to local charities near our store — helping support their fantastic work in the community.
We’ve also partnered with a specialist bed and mattress recycling company to ensure that old mattresses avoid landfill. Instead, they’re professionally stripped down into raw components and recycled into various reusable materials.
Whether it’s an old dining set or a mattress past its best — we’ll take the hassle away, so you can enjoy your new purchase straight away.
